Deputy sheriffs arrest Hilo man wanted for attempted murder investigation

By Star-Advertiser staff

Deputy sheriffs located and arrested Monday a 34-year-old Hilo man in Mountain View, who was wanted by police on suspicion of attempted murder, on an alleged parole violation.

Hawaii County police arrested Jarvis Naoki Higa on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

Spokeswoman Toni Schwartz of the Department of Public Safety said Higa tested postive for illegal drug use, which is a violation of parole.

Police had asked for help from the public July 18 in locating Higa.

Higa allegedly threatened another 34-year-old Hilo man with a firearm at the Orchid Manor condominium complex on Kalanianaole Avenue in Hilo.

Higa had been released on parole July 27, 2011.

Higa was convicted Nov. 27, 2006 on second-degree robbery, and was also convicted in 2006 for probation revocation.
