FBI intensifies hunt for Hawaii couple wanted for fraud

By Associated Press

LAST UPDATED: 08:21 a.m. HST, Jul 31, 2012

The FBI is intensifying its hunt for a Hawaii husband and wife who pleaded guilty in a fraud scheme targeting distressed homeowners.

The agency is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the capture of John and Julieanne Dimitrion.

In April 2009, the couple pleaded guilty to operating a fraud scheme to convince distressed homeowners to relinquish their homes. The FBI said Monday that the couple promised to invest the proceeds of home sales to help the victims but instead funded their own lavish lifestyles.

They didn’t show up for a July 6, 2010, sentencing in federal court in Honolulu. They were last seen four days earlier at church services at Mililani Recreation Center. They were last known to be hiding in Alabama, the FBI said Monday.

Probably back in the Philippines, either living it up or like the "Manapua_Man below says bumped the other off, because it can be done easily there. Remember the promoter who took investors ( one from Kauai) to the Philippines and bumped them off.

How can you assume that they ran off to the Philippines? Yes, the wife looks to be of Filipino descent. But the husband does not appear or have the last name of a Filipino. It's like me assuming that you have an underlying hatred for Filipinos.

I can assume by your "name" that you think child abuse is a joke and are male, mid twenties, probably enrolled in an easy liberal arts degree program at UH.

Yup, one of the two is probably at the bottom of a lake right now... "sleeping with the fishes". Why split the loot 50-50... when just one of them can have it all?

I'm certain one of them "bumped off" the other by now to lighten the load. Having only one person left alive makes for an easier getaway with all the $$$.

Authorities never suspected these two to be flight risks?? I know hindsight is 20/20 but a tail on them would've been less expensive instead of running all over the country trying to find them now. They'll get nailed with national exposure, unless they had surgical procedures to change their features....
