White House honors Waianae father of 11

By Associated Press

A Waianae father of 11 has been honored by the White House for his work as a parent-teacher association leader in his community.

The White House says Calvin Endo was one of 12 people nationwide honored Friday as “Champions of Change” for their PTA work.

The father of five girls and six boys retired from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard after 32 years of civil service and three years in the U.S. Army.

After retirement, he became Waianae High School’s parent and community representative. He’s also education chairman for the Waianae Neighborhood Board.

I always was impressed with the hard work and dedication Mr. Endo has done working full time and then come home to 11 kids. I am having a hard time with 2 kids. Actually my 4 year old son is all the work. Congratulations Mr. Endo. I wish there were more fathers like you out here on the Westside.
