Wahine No. 8 in volleyball preseason top 25 poll

The Hawaii women's volleyball team was No. 8 in today's AVCA Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll.
The Rainbow Wahine finished 31-2 last season and were No. 5 in the final poll.
Defending national champion UCLA was ranked No. 1, receiving 54 of the 60 votes. Texas, receiving one vote, was No. 2, followed by Penn State, Nebraska (one vote), USC (1 vote) and Stanford (three votes).
Hawaii opens the season with Albany on Aug. 24. The Wahine face Stanford Aug. 25, No. 17 California on Sept. 2 and top-ranked UCAL Sept. 9.
Hawaii, back in the Big West for the first time since 1995, was the only BWC team in the poll. Long Beach State received 66 points to place 26th.
