Rainbow Wahine open volleyball season with sweep

Junior hitter Emily Hartong put down a match-high 14 kills and sophomore hitter Jane Croson added 11 as No. 8 Hawaii easily won its fourth consecutive season-opener with a 25-17, 25-6, 25-17 sweep of Albany in the second match of tonight's Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Junior transfer libero Ali Longo was impressive with 12 digs in her debut for the Wahine, who will take on St. Mary's in Saturday's second match. The Gaels were swept by No. 6 Stanford 25-14, 25-16, 25-20 in yesterday's tournament opener.

Hawaii coach Dave Shoji used 16 of his 20 players. 

Senior hitter Dunja Prgomet led the Great Danes with six kills.
