No tsunami from Indonesia earthquake

No tsunami was generated by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck below the Molucca Sea near eastern Indonesia early this morning, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reported.

The quake hit at 5:05 a.m. Hawaii time, 105 miles northwest of Ternate, Moluccas, Indonesia, 148 miles northeast of Manado, Sulawesi, Indonesia, and 634 miles southwest of Koror, Palau, Indonesia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter was at a depth of 43 miles.
