By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 01:51 a.m. HST, Aug 28, 2012

Honolulu fire rescue personnel helped an injured woman off the Manoa Falls trail Sunday evening.

The woman had been hiking with her husband and son when her surgically repaired ankle began to cause her difficulty, officials said.

They called for help when they weren’t able to hike out before it got dark.

Firefighters airlifted the woman off the trail. Her husband and son were able to walk out on their own.

Scandalous waste? I'd hate to see if any of you ever need emergency assistance. Would that be scandalous if you did? You never know. At least these people actually got outdoors to enjoy the fresh air and hike on an improved and officially sanctioned trail instead on sitting in front of their computers all day making judgements about what they've read and making holier-than-thou comments.
