The Hawaii men's basketball team will play Chaminade in a Dec. 15 contest on Molokai, UH confirmed today.
According to UH, it will be the school's first regular-season game on the Friendly Isle in any sport. Chaminade will be the home team at Molokai High School's 2,000-seat gym.
The Rainbow Warriors have played games on neighbor islands in each of the past two seasons. UH beat Chicago State in Lahaina in 2010. In 2011, it defeated Hawaii-Hilo in Kailua-Kona and North Carolina A&T in Wailuku.
"We play for and represent all of Hawaii," UH coach Gib Arnold said in a release. "We're grateful for the support of our neighbor island fans and want them to know how much we appreciate them. We're thrilled to play on Molokai and thank Chaminade and the people of Molokai for making this possible."
In addition, UH completed work on a Nov. 2 exhibition game against Hawaii Pacific University at the Stan Sheriff Center. It takes place a week before the regular-season opener vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore.
