Visitor critically injured in beach accident

A 27-year-old man who hit his head while swimming on Saturday was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The visitor from Korea was got into trouble at Hulopoe Beach Park on Lanai. As he was diving from the shoreline, he apparently struck his head on the ocean floor. Bystanders had to pull the man from the water when he did not surface.
Medical personnel responding to the scene said the man was short of breath and unable to move his arms or legs. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later medevaced to Queen's Medical Center.
