University of Hawaii nose tackle Moses Samia will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee, head coach Norm Chow announced today.

Samia suffered the injury during the Warriors' 54-2 victory over Lamar on Saturday at Aloha Stadium.

Samia, a third-year sophomore from Saint Louis, underwent an MRI on Sunday. Doctors will wait until swelling subsides in the knee before he undergoes surgery.

He is expected to ready for the start of spring training in 2013.

I am sorry this happened, especially against a high school level team. It shows that bad things can happen on the field at any time.

Allie- Lamar had three players who had started as freshman at Oklahoma State, and their QB had played for Kentucky. You keep complainging about UH playing smaller teams. What about this: LSU vs Idaho; Oregon vs Tennesse Tech; Clemson vs Furman; Michigan vs U Mass; Vanderbilt vs Presbyterian. In other words EVERY big program schdeuls games against sub-division teams. Why are you so oblivious?

Samia was stuffing the middle and played well against USC's larger linemen. Unfortunate luck for him as he was showing accelerated improvement in the new system. Injuries are part of the game, but at least we know we have a tough, solid player in Samia who will be ready next year.
