Emergency crews took a man to the hospital after he apparently sustained critical burns in a fire at his Moiliili condominium Tuesday evening. Emergency Medical Services reported the man was in extremely critical condition.

The fire call came in at 7:21 p.m and was reported to be in a multistory building at 1941 Church Lane. The fire was reportedly under control about 7:35 p.m.

The resident of the unit, a man in his 50s, was rushed to Straub in critical condition with second- and third-degree burns over 90 to 100 percent of his body, according to an Emergency Medical Services radio transmission.

Mario Di Lello said fellow neighbor Martin Bayer, 37, kicked down the door to the apartment that was on fire and dragged the victim out of the burning unit.
