BIRMINGHAM, Ala. >> Alabama authorities say three people were killed — including an infant — when an SUV fleeing a robbery slammed into their vehicle in Birmingham.

Birmingham police Sgt. Matthew Nicosia says a man, woman and the child were killed in the Monday night collision.

Police tell AL.com (http://bit.ly/QJfaq0) that officers began chasing the suspects’ white SUV after a Walker County robbery. The chase wound through that county and entered west Birmingham.

Birmingham police Sgt. John Callahan says the suspects’ SUV ran a red light and then crashed into the vehicle. All three people in the car that was hit were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the suspects fled on foot into nearby woods, and a helicopter was dispatched to search for them.

I can't count how many times I have complained that it is Unconstitutional to High Speed Chase by the Police. They are sacrificing the public and Citizens lives to catch someone of interest. In this case it is not speculation but a FACT that THREE PEOPLE DIED. Are THREE LIVES worth catching a robber??? It is NOT the robber the criminal, it is the Police. The Police, by chasing, did set everything in motion for this tragedy to occur. It was wrong for the robber to rob, but it was MORE EGREGIOUS for the Police to pursue. This is NOT the first time deaths have occurred, and by no bleeding hearts like myself is going to change it. They will CONTINUE to endanger and sacrifice innocent lives to satisfy their adrenalin rush. Other peoples lives are of no concern, but don't one EVER put their lives in jeopardy. Pity.
