Guam probes police role in forced prostitution

By Associated Press

POSTED:

HAGATNA, Guam » Guam police are investigating allegations officers helped a brothel owner force Micronesian women and a 16-year-old girl into prostitution.

Police Chief Fred Bordallo said today he's ordering all officers to submit to questioning.

Blue House Lounge owner Song Ja Cha was sentenced to life in prison last month for the sex trafficking scheme.

Prosecutors said the victims were forced to work for 12 to 14 hours a day in six rooms the bar kept for commercial sex. The women were told police would arrest them if they ran away. Their passports were confiscated and all their phone calls were monitored.

One victim testified during Cha's trial that a police officer threatened to arrest her if she disobeyed Cha.
