A high surf warning remains in effect for north and west-facing shores of Oahu, Kauai and Molokai and the north shore of Maui through 6 p.m. tonight, according to the National Weather Service. There is also a high surf advisory for the north and west shores of Hawaii island.

Surf along north-facing shores is expected to range from 20 to 30 feet and from 15 to 20 feet along west-facing shores, according to the weather service.

The northwest swell behind the large surf is forecast to subside tonight, the weather service said.
