UH law school receives national accolade

By Star-Advertiser staff

The University of Hawaii Richardson School of Law has been ranked among the best law schools in the country by the Princeton Review.

The UH law school was rated the "best environment for minority students."

The Princeton Review does not have a "best overall academics" category because it says every school of the 168 featured in the publication is regarded as an academic best.

The Princeton Review tallied its lists based on its survey of 18,000 students attending 168 law schools during academic years 2011-2012 and 2009-2010. The survey asked students about their school’s academics, student body and campus life and their career plans.

Well, let's just say that CJ had his own ideas about what a minority actually is.

Not sure how much of an "accolade" or honor this is. Given that this lawschool probably has the highest percentage of minority students, wouldn't it naturally be the "best environment" for minority students? I would like to know what UH is doing to improve its ranking in the U.S. News and World Report annual ranking of law schools. Last year UH dropped out of the second tier into the third tier. What is the administration doing to reverse the downward spiral?

What is the admin doing to reverse the downward spiral? I can name a few things: CJ passed away. So did Jon Van D. David Ezra is leaving town. Randy redeemed himself with this rail thing.

What was bad about CJ and JVD?

CJ made up so called Hawaiian law substituting PASH for title 25 USC and thereby screwing native Hawaiians of the HHCA and causing Judge Fong to say the federal purposes of the 1921 HHCA were "replaced" by non existent state purposes, leading to the mess. JVD has dishonest, IMO, as he owned a cache of Hawaiian artifacts which would become more valuable pursuant to certain policies. He hedged and dodged the issue of federal purposes versus non existent state purposes, opening up the state to being found in violation of teh 15th amendment. He was self dealing IMO. He liked the alii trusts more than title 25 USC.

Outside of Hawaii, firms that do the hiring will tell you differently. And why does "best environment for minority students" sound like "Ms. Congeniality" in a beauty pageant?

Is it rigged, like a lot of PR stuff is really rigged, or, fixed in advance to a predetermined outcome as part of someone's PR scheme, like our own KS's PR schemes?
