LAS VEGAS » Two men who say they're Berkeley, Calif., law school students have been arrested after police say they killed and decapitated an exotic bird that was part of a Las Vegas resort attraction.

Twenty-four-year-old Eric Cuellar and 24-year-old Justin Teixeira were jailed Friday afternoon on suspicion of conspiracy and willful malicious killing of wildlife.

Police say the two men were seen Friday laughing and throwing around the body of a dead, 14-year-old helmeted guineafowl at the Flamingo resort-casino. The large bird was part of the Flamingo's Wildlife Habitat, a garden area with ponds and streams that houses many types of birds.

Authorities say surveillance video captured the men chasing the bird into some trees. Witnesses say the two emerge carrying the body and severed bird head.

Police say the men claimed to study at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and had student identification cards. It's not clear if they have attorneys.

One never knows. Hmmmm.....UC Berkeley School of Law students, must be playing out one of their lessons to see whether they can get off on temporary insanity. If they lose their case why not release them in the middle of Death Valley desert with just one can of liquid Drano to see how long they can last.

Those two are crazy. They should be placed in a mental institution and UC should kick them out of law school.

"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" is the mantra of the City. Appears from the article not so? Where is their Chamber of Coomerce? Sloppy piece of work on their part, especially the ghoulish acts by these two Self provlaimed Berkley law students?

Is that similar to illegally burning a parent's political opponent's campaign sign, then using the burning sign to take a bong hit and post the criminal activity on the Internet for all the world to see?

it's one thing to be able to kill an animal so savagely but it takes some kind of psychopath to then laugh about it and throw around it's mutilated body. i hope these two never get to practice law.

Isn't this type of behavior linked to serial killers? Best to keep an eye on these two for a long time.

Not sure why this is news. Guineafowl are a dime a dozen as there are literally millions of them - to put this in perspective lts like taking a Myna to Las Vagas. I guess they are considered "exotic" because they do not come from Las Vegas...
