About 1,200 Kaneohe households started the week without electricity as a power outage greeted them early this morning.

A power outage was reported about 5:50 a.m. around the area of Kamehameha Highway and Mokulele Drive, according to Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman Peter Rosegg. Work crews are on the scene and power has been restored to all but 15 households, Rosegg said.

Traffic signals were out at the Castle Junction with police directing traffic. Hawaii Pacific University notified students that classes were cancelled until 10 a.m. today.

At least your bill will hopefully be a bit lower. It may be a way they can help their customers to lower their electric bill. :-p

HECO's bills are so large that a few hours off will not be noticed.
