Military electrical efficiency contracts include Hawaii

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

Military installations’ electrical systems in Hawaii, Alaska, the mainland and U.S. Territories will be evaluated for efficiency, and recommendations for conservation will be made under new contracts awarded today.

Eaton Corp. has received contracts from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct evaluations and develop standardized and simplified designs to help the military remotely monitor and control equipment meters that normally require visual observation or additional personnel.

Systems included in the review include those for utility monitoring, building automation, fire alarms, fire protection, supervisory control and data acquisition, as well as HVAC, or heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

The projects have an estimated value of $35 million.
