Downed pole leaves 700 without power in Waimanalo

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

An early morning vehicle crash knocked over a utility pole in Waimanalo and left 1,500 area residents without power.

A van that crashed into a Waimanalo home around 3:30 a.m. also knocked over a utility pole on Wailea Street, according to Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman Darren Pai.

Crews have restored power to 800 customers, but the remaining 700 without electricity will have to wait until workers finish repairing the pole, Pai said.
