Board of Water Supply crews have completed repairs to a 12-inch water main break in Hawaii Kai that caused the early closure of Kamiloiki Elementary School and all lanes of Hawaii Kai Drive are now open to traffic.

The road had been closed since 10 a.m. Wednesday, when the water main broke at 7788 Hawaii Kai Dr., fronting Kamiloiki School.

The elementary school reopened this morning.

Students were sent home at about 10 a.m. Wednesday because there was no water at the school.

More than 200 homes were without water as a result of the break.

Ben is right: we need to pour money into fixing our sewer and bridges and roads. Forget rail: it won't fix our most basic problems or even create many jobs.

what exactly has the BOW done since they assessed an increase to all Oahu customers? Water main breaks have continued and no additional resources or improvements have resulted...

If Caldwell and rail win the election then just move Ewa and there will be better sewer, roads, bridges, and water lines. The focus appears to be "why fix the problems when you can build new somewhere else."

Water main breaks, sewer spills, and road pothole problems occur far too frequently. Why? The City is wasting all our money on the rail fiasco.
