A 28-year-old Makiki man was arrested for drunken driving after the car he was driving hit another vehicle on the Pali Highway early Tuesday morning, forcing it through a chain-link fence and onto the freeway where he collided with another car, according to police.

Police said the suspect was heading west on School Street at 4:45 a.m. when he hit a car, which was traveling south, at the Pali Highway intersection. The impact of the collision forced the car on the Pali Highway through a chain link barrier on School Street and down the embankment onto the H-1 Freeway where he hit a car traveling west on the freeway, police said.

The 28-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
