Parts of Kauai going dry today

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

Parts of northern Kauai, including Haena and Wainiha will be without water today because of construction work.

The water outage will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 5 p.m. The downtime will allow the department’s contractor, Unlimited Builders, to tie into the newly renovated Haena steel tank.

The areas that will have no water service are all of Haena and parts of the Wainiha area including those along Kuhio Highway from the Wainiha Powerhouse Road intersection to just beyond the Ananalu Road intersection, as well as all of those along Ananalu Road.

The Kauai Department of Water will provide portable water tanks at Kuhio Highway and Alealea Road and at Kuhio Highway and Waniha Powerhouse Road for customers who run out of water during the shutdown. Customers will need to bring their own water containers.
