Hawaii’s jobless rate the lowest since December 2008

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September was 5.7 percent, down from 6.1 percent in August and down from 6.8 percent in September of 2011.

The last time Hawaii’s jobless rate was at 5.7 percent was in December of 2008.

State numbers compare to the national rate of 7.8 percent, down from 8.1 percent in August and down from 9.0 in September of last year.

In Hawaii, initial claims were down 9.4 percent from a year ago.
