Kauai to start Kuhio Highway improvements

Kauai County will begin improvements Monday to Kuhio Highway on the north end of Wailua Beach near the intersection of Papaloa Road and Kuhio Highway.
Work will include improvements to the drainage system, including installation of a pretreatment drainage manhole to reduce potential pollutants being discharged to the ocean. The roadway improvement project is part of Ke Ala Hele Makalae, the multi-use path from the Wailua Bridge to Kauai Sands Hotel.
Roadside work for another segment of the multi-use path is taking place along Kawaihau Road in Kapaa, and is expected to continue until the end of November.
