A 6.2-magnitude earthquake at Vanuatu occurred today but did not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
Scientist Dailin Wang said the earthquake occurred at 1 p.m., Hawaii time at Vanuatu, in the South Pacific, 3,600 miles away from the islands.
“We were not affected,” he said. “There is no tsunami threat anywhere.”
