Crash kills driver, 45, on Hawaii island

A 45-year-old man died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash north of Mile Marker 105 on Highway 11 in Honaunau on Hawaii island.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a Mitsubishi compact car upside down and the driver lying lifeless on the side of the road.

The road was closed for two hours while police investigated the scene and cleared debris. Traffic was rerouted to Kealo Keawe Road.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
