Autopsy scheduled for man found on Maui with head injuries

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

An autopsy will be conducted today on Maui to determine how a 70-year-old Kihei man died after he was reported missing Tuesday.

The body of Dennis Roberts was found with severe head injuries Wednesday floating 300 yards offshore of the 24-mile marker of Piilani Highway.

Roberts was last seen Tuesday at the Matson Shipping Company in Kahului where he had picked up his 2012 Jeep Wrangler that had arrived from Seattle.

Roberts said he planned to take a drive around the island, but never turned up at his Kihei home.

The Jeep was found at noon Wednesday in the remote area of Kahikinui at the 27.5-mile marker of Piilani Highway. Roberts’ body was recovered at 1:30 p.m.
