One person died and four others were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash near the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Plantation Road at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police shut down Kamehameha Highway from Joseph P. Leong Highway to Paalaa Uka Road near Dole Plantation until about 10:30 p.m. while they investigated the crash.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. There were four patients reported in serious condition, a spokeswoman for the Department of Emergency Services said.
Two of those hospitalized were men, ages 23 and 21, who were in one vehicle, EMS said.
Two other victims, a man in his 30s and a woman also in her 30s, were from a second vehicle, EMS said.
The gender and approximate age of the person killed was not released.
