Beeman a winner in Wahine hoops exhibition debut

Freshman forward Destiny King scored 22 points and the Hawaii women's basketball team defeated Hawaii-Hilo 72-47 in new coach Laura Beeman's exhibition debut tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

King shot 7-for-8 from the field, including a halfcourt heave the beat the balftime buzzer.

Top returnee Kamilah (Jackson) Martin had 14 points and 12 rebounds off the bench for UH.

As an exhibition, the result did not officially count. UH's regular-season opener is Nov. 9 at San Francisco.
