No tsunami from 6.2 aftershock in British Columbia

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck again near the Queen Charlotte Islands region today, and no tsunami warning was sent out, according to the National Weather Service.

The quake occurred at 4:49 p.m., Hawaii time, 437 miles west-northwest of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 

A second 5.0 magnitude quake hit near the area, 426 miles northwest of Vancouver, less than 10 minutes later, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter or the first quake was at a depth of 5.6 miles, and the second was at a depth of about 3 miles, the agency said.
