A 19-year-old man has been charged with stabbing his 70-year-old grandmother last week in her Waialae Avenue apartment.
Charles "Kealii" Amoy was charged with second-degree attempted murder on Sunday. His bail was set at $500,000.
Aileen H. Amoy was taken to Queen’s Medical Center with multiple stab wounds at 1 a.m. Friday. The stabbing occurred 3002 Waialae Ave., a three-story apartment building behind Sakura Restaurant & Pupu Bar.
Police said neighbors heard a woman screaming for help.
The suspect was caught at about 6 p.m. Friday in the University area after police issued an alert about the stabbing. Amoy was arrested for investigation of second-degree attempted murder.
Friends said the victim had lived in the three-story building for more than 20 years and has always been there to help her grandson,
