Man critically injured by wrong-way driver on H-2 freeway

All northbound lanes of the H-2 Freeway between the Ka Uka offramp to the Mililani Mauka exit have been reopened following an early morning head-on collision that sent a man to the hospital in critical condition.

A 44-year-old Waipahu man was critically injured this morning when his vehicle was hit by an SUV going the wrong way on the H-2 freeway.

Police arrested the driver of the wrong-way SUV on suspicion of drunken driving.

Police said the victim was traveling north on the freeway when his Mazda pickup truck was hit head-on by a southbound Toyota Sequoia just after 5 a.m. one mile south of the Meheula Parkway overpass.

The victim was pinned in the cab of the truck.

The 37-year-old driver of Sequoia received minor injuries.

Th northbound lanes of the H-2 Freeway from Ka Uka offramp to the Mililani Mauka exit were closed for several hours.

People no learn. You like be stupid and get drunk, stay where you at. Don't get behind the wheel and drive. Look what happened, the other driver in critical condition, and you going jail. Hoping for a speedy recovery for the other driver. Drunk braddah, you can STAY in jail.
