A 44-year-old Waipahu man was critically injured this morning when his vehicle was hit by an SUV going the wrong way on the H-2 freeway.
Police arrested the driver of the wrong-way SUV on suspicion of drunken driving.
Police said the victim was traveling north on the freeway when his Mazda pickup truck was hit head-on by a southbound Toyota Sequoia just after 5 a.m. one mile south of the Meheula Parkway overpass.
The victim was pinned in the cab of the truck.
The 37-year-old driver of Sequoia received minor injuries.
Th northbound lanes of the H-2 Freeway from Ka Uka offramp to the Mililani Mauka exit were closed for several hours.
