Vehicle rams hydrant, causing downtown geyser

Crew members of the Board of Water Supply are responding to a broken fire hydrant near the intersection of Punchbowl and Pohukaina Streets, next to the Prince Kuhio Federal Building.

A vehicle hit the hydrant about 10:06 a.m. The Board of Water Supply received the report at 10:10 a.m. Crew members turned off the water and will conduct repairs to the hydrant at a later date, spokesman Keoni Mattos said.
