High surf advisory in effect through 6 p.m. today

10-to-15-foot waves are forecast for the north shores

A high surf advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. today for the north shores of Oahu, Niihau, Kauai, Molokai and Maui, according to the National Weather Service.

The surf along north-facing shores is expected to reach 10 to 15 feet, peaking early today.

Large breaking waves and rough surf conditions with dangerous rip currents are possible, the weather service says.
