Lifeguards aid teen girl at Waimea Bay

Ocean Safety personnel assisted a swimmer in distress at Waimea Bay around 5:15 p.m. Sunday.

Lifeguards responded after the 14-year-old girl swallowed water and needed help getting out of the water.

The girl was conscious and breathing, but was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure.
