A 55-year-old homeless man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rob the Kalihi branch of Bank of Hawaii shortly after the financial institution opened Monday morning.
The failed stickup occurred about 8:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of King Street.The man allegedly demanded money from a teller, who gave him an undisclosed amount of money.
Responding officers arrested the suspect just outside the front entrance of the bank about 9 a.m., police said. He is being held pending a count of second-degree robbery.
Police did not provide details about how they were able to respond so quickly.
