Teacher who impregnated girl, 13, allowed work release

By Associated Press

LAST UPDATED: 11:53 a.m. HST, Nov 20, 2012

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa » A court in American Samoa is allowing a former teacher convicted of raping a 13-year-old student to work at a church while he serves a two-year prison term.

The High Court of American Samoa last week ruled Tone Pulou may leave prison from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. He's earning money to pay his victim $100 a month in child support for his son.

The Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa has hired the 27-year-old as a janitor.

The court sentenced Pulou to 28 months in prison in June. He pleaded guilty to rape in a deal with prosecutors.

Pulou was arrested at a McDonald's restaurant in Honolulu last year. He must also reimburse American Samoa for his extradition costs.

Allowed to work? He should be forced to work at hard labor under full sun, like building pyramids or great wall of China. But churches love it when sinners are born again.

...as the world we live in spirals in idiocy downward... down down down, leaving behind decency, justice, and hope for the good people of this world. Shame on the judge in that case- two years? That shows what American Samoa culture thinks of a young girl and her innocence. And the church? The pastor of that church is as clueless as the judge. I think the Bible says something about "Woe to the shepherd who scatters my sheep"... How profoundly embarrassing.

A guy got ten years for attempting to meet a minor for sex at McDonalds who turned out to be a cop. The guy did not even have a "victim". This guy actually rapes a girl and impregnates her and gets only two easy years where he can go out to "work" while serving time. This is outrageous.
