A 55-year-old man had to be airlifted off the Waihee Valley ridge trail Friday morning by the Maui Fire Department helicopter after he ran out of water and reported that he was dehydrated.
The hiker called 911 on Maui at 5 a.m. saying that he had been hiking for two days and needed help to get out of the area.
Maui fire officials said the hiker was not injured and refused medical attention after he was airlifted out at 6:40 a.m.
