Firefighters rescue lost hikers on Mauna Loa

Firefighters rescued two hikers Friday night near the summit of Mauna Loa after they became separated from the trail, Hawaii island fire officials said.
A 50-year-old man from Australia and a 29-year-old woman from Germany called for help around 6:45 p.m. Friday. Officials arrived on scene at 8:05 p.m. and found the hikers about 2 miles from the summit of the volcano.
Both hikers were uninjured and did not need medical treatment.

how about the maui hiker? maybe they should start charging a fine for rescues. they say it'll discourage people from calling for help knowing they will have to pay but maybe its time for the laws of natural selection to come into play. it will weed out the people too stupid to not take water with them on a hike. HA!! rescued because he claims dehydration and then declines medical help after being rescued!! idiot!!
