Hawaii County police arrested a 20-year-old man who, along with five or six other males, allegedly beat and robbed a 26-year-old Kealakekua man Monday morning.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the other suspects.

Police said the  victim reported he met another local man at a bar, who took him out to the parking lot to meet five or six males. The group then allegedly punched and kicked the man, allegedly stole his backpack and fled on foot at 12:27 a.m.

The man was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was treated for a fractured jaw and minor cuts and scrapes.

Police Tuesday arrested the man with no local address, on suspicion of robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Detective Walter Ah Mow at 326-4646, ext. 238. Anonymous tipsters may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
