Woman injured while hiking in lava tube

Hawaii County firefighters rescued a 55-year-old woman who fell while hiking in a lava cave near Hilo Saturday.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to a 11:39 a.m. call to the Kaumana caves. They assessed her conditions and airlifted her out of the area by helicopter. She went to the Hilo Medical Center. No information was available on her condition.
