The University of Hawaii expects to name a new athletic director Friday, a spokeswoman for the Manoa Chancellor's office said today.

"UH Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple has met with the two UH Athletics Director finalists recommended by the A.D. Search Advisory Committee," Diane Chang wrote in an email to the Star-Advertiser. "Chancellor Apple is in the process of performing due diligence on this very important decision. We hope to issue a media advisory with the announcement of Chancellor Apple’s selection on Friday, December 7. No press conference is planned."

Ohio State senior associate AD Ben Jay and UC Berkeley deputy director of athletics Solomon "Solly" Fulp are the two finalists recommended by the 11-member search committee convened by Apple.

Jim Donovan was removed as AD on July 11 and UH vice president Rockne Freitas has served as acting AD since then.
