A 35-year-old Ewa Beach man was taken to the hospital for evaluation after he threatened to blow up his house and kept police at bay for nearly seven hours.
Police said they were called to a home on Oama Place at 11:18 p.m. Tuesday after a woman said she received a threatening message from a relative who lived with her in the same house.
The man became upset after he was told he was being evicted recently and was acting erratically, the woman said.
She told police that the man had threatened to blow up the house with cans of gasoline in a bedroom of the house.
Police evacuated the area after confirming that the man was in the house and called in the Specialized Services Division.
The suspect surrendered at 6:45 a.m.
He was taken into custody and transported to a medical facility for an evaluation.
No injury or property damage was reported.
The affected portion of Aikanaka Road was re-opened at about 7:50 am.
