Head-on crash on Hawaii isle injures 15, one critically

A head-on collision between a bus and an SUV on a Hawaii County road near Ookala Wednesday afternoon sent the driver of the SUV to the hospital in critical condition, and injured 14 passengers in the van.

Hawaii County fire officials said the driver of the SUV was pinned in the car following the 3:53 p.m. accident on Highway 19 near the 30-mile marker.

The highway was closed nearly fours while police investigated the crash.
