Daniel K. Inouye Memorial Fund to continue senator’s work

Daniel K. Inouye

The Daniel K. Inouye Memorial Fund has been created at the Hawaii Community Foundation at the request of the senator’s widow, Irene Hirano Inouye, the foundation announced this morning.

The fund will continue to help the organizations and causes Inouye supported.

"All of us here at the Hawaii Community Foundation had the privilege of working closely with the senator and his staff, and witnessing the tremendous leadership and inspiration he provided to so many," said Kelvin Taketa, Hawaii Community Foundation president and CEO, in a statement.

Contributions can be made to the Daniel K. Inouye Fund, care of the Hawaii Community Foundation, 827 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu, HI, 96813, or online.

If the article showed "the organizations and causes he supported" it might have more impact and contributions. All I know is that he supported the unions and maritine industry and not the Jones Act????

If you are so ignorant, then just go back and read the letters to the editor the day after he died or various news source other than faux news - a long list of folks who thanked him for his support - the military, veterans, the east-west center, local families, individuals with problems with beauracratic hassles.

I recall he got $25,000,000 of Fed funds for "his" bank when they were going under. So we give money to the military? The veterans? The east-west center? Local families? Individuals with buracratic hassles? Ignorant? Get with it!!! That was a dumb article with no content!!! Foundations are usually set up to "hide" money and to give jobs to your relatives. Check out the Gates, Oprah's etc. foundations. That's the way it works.

Of course, donations could be made anonymously, but I don't see anything conclusive.
We'll see if his legacy will do more posthumously and can compete with TC Ching and Weinberg Foundations which are impressive.

If Uncle Dan had contributed to charity, knowing politicians it would have shown up on their annual disclosures--look at Biden--gave $300 last year to charity!!!
