Police arrest homeless man after catching him rooting through car in Kaimuki

A 41-year-old homeless man caught by police rummaging through a car in Kaimuki now faces criminal charges.

A witness called police after seeing the suspect enter a car at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday at 7th and Kaimuki avenues, police said.

Responding police officers called the car’s owner, who identified items the suspect had thrown out of the car.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of breaking into a car illegally.
