Suspect tries to flee, but is caught in Christmas Day burglary

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

It wasn't Santa Claus leaving a Nuuanu home on Christmas Day carrying bags of goodies.

A patrol officer, responding to an alarm, saw a suspect leaving a home in Nuuanu at about 1 p.m. carrying several bags, police said.

The officer went after the suspect on foot and, after a short chase and struggle, arrested a 28-year-old Kalihii man near a Dowsett Avenue home for suspicion of first degree burglary, resisting arrest and assault of a police officer.
