Arson suspected in Maui community center fire

Maui Fire Department investigators believe a fire that destroyed two portable toilets and a restroom at Pukalani Community Center on Sunday night was intentionally set.

When firefighters arrived at the scene at 11:47 p.m. they found the roof of bathroom engulfed with flames.The fire was extinguished at 12:23 a.m. Destroyed were two portable toilets. Damage was estimated at $8,000. The 600-square-foot restroom located near the swimming pool was nearly destroyed with damages estimated at $31,000.

Maui Police department have initiated an arson investigation.
