Forecasters expect the cool temperatures and dry conditions visiting the state to hang around at least through Thursday morning.

Overnight lows are expected to stay around the upper 50s to lower 60s with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 70s. Officials at the National Weather Service say there is a slight chance of showers in windward areas on Hawaii island and Maui through Thursday. Friday evening should see the arrival of a cold front, which is expected to bring windward showers and stronger trade winds to all islands, forecaster say.

A high surf advisory has been extended through 6 p.m. Thursday for the north-facing shores of Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai and Niihau with waves hitting 10 to 15 feet. The west-facing shores of Kauai and Niihau are also under an advisory with wave heights of 10 to 12 feet expected.

Beachgoers are warned to expect strong breaking waves with dangerous rip currents.
