And pedestrians please watch out for your own welfare. Too many people thinking they have the right of way and dont even bother looking out for their own safety or too enthrawled with there i phones to be aware of their surroundings.

Yes, please slow down. But also, pedestrians please use extra caution. When it's gloomy and rainy like this visibility is diminished. Rain also prevents the vehicle from stopping as quickly as in dry weather. Let us all be extra careful out there.

The "article" doesn't say if either victim was in a marked crosswalk. Were the bus and car travelling on the sidewalk, or were the pedestrians walking on the street?? Too many pedestrians (especially in Waikiki) have a careless attitude about randomly stepping out onto the street "expecting" cars and busses to see and avoid them.

I agree that too many pedestrians think they have the right of way and just walk--I have learned a long time ago that cars are bigger than I am and I don't challenge them. But on the other hand, as a driver, sometimes it's had to tell if a pedestrian is just waiting at the corner or intends to walk. Simple--make eye contact and shanka.
